Montebello, Quebec is a place you would never end up in a million years – unless of course, you’re completely in the know about the most luxury properties around. On our road trip from Toronto to Montreal to celebrate #CANADA150, we had arrangements to stop for one night in Montebello – which I knew nothing about – at a Fairmont property. Because of the Fairmont name, I felt confident that our stay would be wonderful. But the property we pulled up to was so much more than we could have ever dreamed. True Luxury at Fairmont Montebello I still don’t know how to properly describe our experience at the Fairmont in Montebello, Quebec, except for to accurately say that it was easily one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. This estate was full of fun activities to do, from mini golf and indoor or outdoor swimming to electric bike rentals, tennis, and campfire chats. We had an insane BBQ experience on the outdoor terrace where we had an incredible feast, tasting quail for the first time and thoroughly enjoying it. Where down-to-earth meets luxury, the Fairmont Montebello is the perfect setting for a family getaway in the woods, a romantic adventure for two, or even a bridal party or wedding. I can’t wait to return someday soon! Check out some of my favourite captures from the Fairmont Montebello below. Montreal is a city I’ve wanted to visit for a long, long time. But with flights being pretty high to fly from Vancouver to Montreal, I always decided a trip to Europe was a bit more enticing. Finally, I made it though, albeit only for three days, and it was certainly worth it. I still found a way to ensure I saw the biggest attractions in Montreal; our stay at Omni Mont Royal made it so easy to see the city, being so central and offering such a great view of Mont Royal. Here are my tips for your 3 days in Montreal. Stay By all means, definitely consider a stay with Omni Mont Royal! This is a great hotel located in downtown Montreal within walking distance to Mont Royal as well as many shops and restaurants. We even enjoyed an hour-long walk from our hotel to Old Montreal a couple of times, and if you’re in the mood, there’s a Car2go parking lot just around the corner. The buffet breakfast was incredible, and the staff were friendly and knowledgable about the city, giving us recommendations in the area that turned out to be fabulous. The on-site spa, EQlib, was a convenient + great spot for some much-needed relaxation. On a hot Montreal day, the rooftop pool was by far my favourite amenity at the hotel! Eat You’re bound to eat so many poutines during your trip to Montreal; it’s just a must! But, if you’re interested in trying some other cuisines, I’d recommend a trip out to the Plateau area to eat at a Japanese restaurant called RYU. As a Vancouverite, my standards for Japanese food and seafood in general are pretty high, so I was actually surprised at how much I loved RYU. The food was authentic and mouth-watering, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Well-worth a cab, long walk, or Uber from the Omni Mont Royal. Do There are, of course, lots of different experiences to be had when visiting Montreal. Even if you have just 3 days in Montreal, be sure to at least check out the following attractions. Old Montreal: This is the Montreal you’ve been dreaming of. An absolute must-see, walk through the cobblestone streets, grab an ice cream cone, or perhaps sit on one of the many patios to enjoy a cold beer and take in the beautiful, European architecture and bustling yet quaint vibe….
Je suis arrivee! Finally I made it to Montreal, Quebec, a city I’ve been dying to visit for far too long. And now I can say I’ve finally made it a little further east in Canada, too. My first impressions of Montreal could not have been any better – what with arriving to our Presidential Suite at the Omni Mont Royal. This suite was so grande, in fact, we couldn’t help but spend the first 5 minutes dancing around our two storey suite, complete with the most amazing master bath (and tub) and a full living room with a view of Mont Royal. They only continued to go up from there, too, with a pampering session at the hotel’s spa, EQilb, the most amazing breakfasts each morning at the hotel’s restaurant Le Petit Opus Cafe, and a long over-due feeling of being back in Europe. I loved the architecture of Old Montreal, the nightlife in the Plateau area, and the beautiful nature of Mont Royal. I also got really close to a squirrel who had a nut in his mouth at La Fontaine Park, which, believe it or not, was super cute and entertaining. Take a peek at our video from Montreal, which gives just a few highlights of our stay, pamper, and eat experiences – there’s more to come so stay tuned!
