It’s pretty rare that I get the opportunity to step behind the camera when it comes to a fashion shoot, so when my good friend and fashion designer Rimpy Sahota asked for my help, I couldn’t have been more excited.
Vancouver Designer Rimpy Sahota
I met Rimpy during a time when I was enthralled with being in front of the camera, and got an opportunity to model in one of Rimpy’s fashion shows. During this time, her collection was focused on high-end dresses of beautiful fabrics like chiffon and silk. Rimpy, as the incredible woman, friend, and designer that she is, has transformed so much as a designer over the past few years and it’s been a pleasure to watch.
Her latest collection is entitled “St. Tropez,” which couldn’t be more fitting for the line-up of gorgeous two-piece sets she’s created. Dabbling in bright solids, patterns, and demure whites and blacks, Rimpy has focused on the trend of crop tops and matching skirts this time around. These sets come in a variety of styles, from more casual A-line skirts to formal pencil skirts with matching crop tops. Perfect for a Vancouver summer’s night out, and especially fitting for a trip to the South of France (hence the name), these sets are instantly adored.
Rimpy, with her business-thinking mind, is currently selling her collection through pop-up shops and trunk sales in and around Vancouver. Best to keep tabs on her instagram if you’re dying to get your hands on a set of your own!
These images were created in the streets of Yaletown, Vancouver with friend and hair&makeup genius Monet (who also happens to look amazing in front of the lens!). You can catch some of Monet’s serious hair styling skills at J.D.’s Barbershop in Vancouver.
